Buyer question
Which AEO tools track Google AI Overviews and AI Mode?
Six of the eight trackers we checked on 19 October 2026 list Google AI Overviews or AI Mode on their own pages: Profound, Otterly.AI, Scrunch, AthenaHQ, Ahrefs Brand Radar and Peec AI. A seventh, Semrush, lists them in its knowledge base, which we did not open. Bungad does not track either Google surface today; both are planned.

Google AI Overviews is the generated summary at the top of a Google results page. AI Mode is Google's separate, conversational search. They are the two Google surfaces a buyer most often asks a tracker about, and they are measured differently from a chat assistant, so the table below takes them one at a time.

| Vendor | AI Overviews | AI Mode | Where we read it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profound | Listed on the free trial and on Enterprise | Listed on Enterprise | Profound's own pricing page |
| Otterly.AI | Listed as included | A paid add-on | otterly.ai/pricing |
| Scrunch | Listed on every plan | Listed on every plan | scrunch.com/pricing |
| AthenaHQ | Listed from the free Essential plan | Listed on Starter | athenahq.ai/pricing |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | Listed | Listed | ahrefs.com/brand-radar. Which plan includes each was not clear to us |
| Peec AI | Not stated on the pages we read | Listed: it has an AI Mode tracker page | peec.ai/pricing |
| Semrush | Unverified | Unverified | Its pricing page says "Google". A search summary of its knowledge base names both; we did not open that page |
| HubSpot AEO | Not listed | Not listed | hubspot.com/products/aeo |
| Bungad | Planned | Planned | Our own code and plans. Not tracked on any plan today |
Read this as what each vendor says, not what we tested. Every row except ours comes from that vendor's public page, read on 19 October 2026 without signing in. We have used none of these products, and a page can list a surface that a given plan does not include. Check the vendor's own page, and ask for a sample report, before you rely on a row here.
Why Google's answers are measured differently
Perplexity sells an API that returns an answer and its sources, so a tracker can put a question to it directly. Google offers no public API that returns an AI Overview. A tracker that lists one is reading Google's results pages, through its own software or through a data supplier that does it for them.
That is a fair way to measure it, but it is not the same thing as an API answer, and Google does not show an Overview on every search. So when a vendor shows you an AI Overviews figure, ask three things:
- Where did the results page come from? Their own software, or a named data supplier.
- Which country and language was the search run in? A figure with no market attached is hard to compare with anything.
- What happens when no Overview appears? It should be counted as "no Overview shown", not as "you were not named".
What Bungad covers today
Perplexity is the only engine we track today. Live It is the only engine we hold an API key for.
- ChatGPT and Claude: Built · not switched on. The software is built, but we do not yet hold a key, so we do not measure them.
- Gemini: Planned. It is not built yet.
- Google AI Overviews and AI Mode: Planned. Code for both has been started, through a data supplier, but no customer check calls it and we do not yet have an account with that supplier. You get nothing from either surface on any plan today.
- Microsoft Copilot: not tracked on any plan.
When Bungad is the wrong choice
- You need an AI Overviews figure this month. Buy a tracker from the table that lists it, and ask the three questions above.
- Your buyers mostly search on Google rather than ask an assistant. Then AI Overviews may be the surface that matters most to you, and we do not measure it yet.
- You want to look before you buy anything. Search your buyers' questions on Google yourself, note whether an Overview appears and who it names, and repeat on the same day next month. It costs nothing.

Common questions
Which AEO tools track Google AI Overviews?
Of the eight trackers we checked on 19 October 2026, Profound, Otterly.AI, Scrunch, AthenaHQ and Ahrefs Brand Radar list Google AI Overviews on their own pages. Peec AI lists AI Mode. Semrush names both in its knowledge base, which we did not open. HubSpot AEO lists neither. Bungad does not track either one today; both are planned.
Is AI Mode the same as AI Overviews?
No. AI Overviews is the generated summary at the top of a normal Google results page. AI Mode is a separate, conversational Google search. Some trackers list one and not the other, so check for each by name.
Does Bungad track Google AI Overviews?
No, not on any plan today. It is planned: code for it has been started through a data supplier, but no customer check uses it yet. Perplexity is the only engine Bungad measures today.
